A Word from Bandleader Ron Gariffo
It's probably safe to say not many retired physicians become bandleaders, but that's my story. I initially majored in music in college, but I worried that I might not be able to make a living as a musician. So I pursued a career as a physician instead. After practicing medicine for 37 years, I retired and decided to return to my musical roots.
I've been a musician, performer, and arranger for the last 15 years. Performing in front of an audience is something that I truly love to do. Although the Ron Gariffo Orchestra plays the classic American Songbook from the 1920s right up until the 1970s, the original arrangements are mine.
